Core Skills:
RSL acting GCSE- Distinction
- Teamwork
I used the skill of teamwork with my group, first off my working together to build a basic idea to then building up a storyline. Here we did trial and error, commenting on each others strengths and weaknesses after each trial. This feedback help not only build our acting skills, but the communication made our piece to the best of it's ability.
- wrote our own script and learnt it in plenty of time
Our group decided to not write a script, but to write an outline. This supported my ability to improvise, making our performance flexible to whatever situation occurred. Learning this outline in plenty of time meant that I could focus on my physical acting, including movement and facial expressions, overall improving my performance.
- sorted staging and lighting
Planning our lighting helped with my directing practise widening my skills and experience. Staging supported this as well however it supported my movement and spatial awareness during the performance.
School production- 'Joseph and the Technicolour Dream Coat' -2018
- learned lyrics to songs and dance routine/synchronisation
This practise helped me understand my skill for rhythm and time. Also working in a group help me with my synchronisation and my ability to connect with others.
- memory
Practising the skill of memory helped with my acting as it trained my brain to take in a mass of information and remember. This skill proved that I will push myself to get the best outcome I can get.
Adaptable and Transferable skills:
- Reliability and Communication
I have expressed the skill of reliability by always being able to help out and support at work when they are short staffed, which also enhances my communication skills.
- Collaboration
I have shown collaboration in my a-level drama work when being put into a group of people i didn't know and working with them and discussing and sharing our ideas.
- Problem Solving
I have expressed my problem solving skills at my work when I am asked a question which i am unsure for the answer and figure it out at the best of my ability and at a sufficient speed so the customer gets what they want as soon a possible.
Areas of strength
- Attendance and punctuality
I am always on time, usually 5-10 minutes early, so there is enough time to prepare myself before anything begins. This gives the me time to adjust to any sudden changes which might need to be done, without me being unprepared and holding everyone else up.
- Use of Props and equipment
I feel that I use props and equipment in a sensible way which benefits my acting skills as i feel it helps finish characterisation. It also allows room for a characters mannerisms to be expressed, further emphasising the creative use of props.
- Articulation
Articulation is a strong skill i hold as, throughout my childhood, speaking clearly and correctly has been constantly taught to me. This helps me express my lines clearer as i can formulate my lines better. It also helps me to speak in different accents too.
